Dear Sensitive Souls,
In my office I've hung a *totally appropriate* amount of sun catchers because, 1. Every good witch needs some crystals hanging nearby and 2. The rainbows they cast on my desk make me feel like I am writing from a place of magic.
Lately, I long to be able to pour myself a cup of coffee in the quiet of morning and sit amongst those dancing rainbows, writing to you all stories that spark laughter, joy, and empowerment.
But it feels more difficult than ever to string together the right words when we are witnessing so much continued suffering in our world.
Maybe it feels unfitting to tell you about the time I fell off a ski lift or make some obscure connection between turtles eating jellyfish and discernment (there's a connection there, I'm sure of it..) when so many of our friends and neighbors feel frightened.
But what do you write about in such tender times? When people are tired, scared, and unsure?
Maybe you just write about that.
As sensitive souls, I know you feel the escalation in energy. The air has been heavy, the grief is thick, the fear is off the charts.
Maybe a story about being rescued on a ski slope would bring joy, but it feels more important to address that we are going through a difficult time right now.
Even just to name it.
I would rather you know that if it all feels like too much in your body and mind some days, you're not alone.
Fear is one of the topics I write about most, because when you have lived your life with an anxiety disorder you understand fear on a deep and personal level. The world doesn't need to be in chaos for you to feel terrified.
Because of that, I also understand deeply how fear can hijack our wellbeing and untether us from ourselves... and sometimes, even each other.
There is a reason that fear has been used as a tactic for power and control for centuries.
When I look closer though, I also see it's way of unifying us. Of shedding light on what truly matters and bringing people together in ways that feel like hope.
In the face of fear we often see strangers standing up for one another. Communities coming together. People doing the remarkable.
It's true what Mr. Rogers taught us decades ago: When you feel afraid, look for the helpers. There will always be people helping.
One thing I have put into practice for myself, when I feel afraid or unsure what to do, is I make an effort to expand. I choose to do something kind or of service in the face of that fear.
It doesn't make the fear go away, but it can lessen it's power.
However you are handling the intensity of these times, know that it is important and necessary to care for yourself and your nervous system in any way that you can. Especially as deep feelers with open hearts to the world.
With so much love,
Danica

Question Corner
"How do you determine a spirit message from your own thoughts?"
|
Answer: This is a great question, and can be challenging at first. Sometimes Spirit will appear in full figure in glowing light in front of you with a clear message that feels awe inspiring, but more often than not they will use your own thoughts to convey messages. One thing to note is if your thoughts are intrusive, fearful, scary or negative in any way, those aren't spirit messages. They will never make you feel afraid or inadequate. The best way to begin to decipher the messages is simply with daily practice. Talking to your spirit team and angels, asking them questions and being mindful of how those questions are answered. Log it in a notebook, look for patterns, feel how the messages feel in your body. If you're asking yourself "Was that a message?" It most likely was or you wouldn't be asking that.
