Dear Sensitive Souls,
So, I told you I would somehow work a story in about sea turtles eating jellyfish and make an obscure connection to us as sensitives.
Well, I think I've got it..
Stick with me.
Sea turtles are built to eat jellyfish. Their mouths and throats are designed to safely swallow the jellyfish and their tough shells and scaly skin protect them from stings.
Most fish, however, are not designed to handle the toxins or stings of a jellyfish and can become ill or injured if they try to ingest one.
Now, imagine you are a fish living in a world of sea turtles. All your turtle friends are eating jellyfish, and living their lives. You are trying to do the same, but it makes you feel intensely unwell.
When you express this, everyone just keeps telling you you need to grow thicker skin. Your thought process becomes "What the heck is wrong with me? Why do I feel so different?"
And this, my friends, is an experience every empath has had.
..Not living with sea turtles, the feeling the different. You're with me, right?
Try as you might to develop a tough shell and stomach the ways of the sea turtle world, you were actually never designed to operate like that.
You are Designed to be Sensitive
There is nothing wrong with you, you don't have a design flaw, you're just not a sea turtle.
If you're reading this newsletter, you likely feel energy and emotions in a way that others don't. When you walk into a space, you can feel the imprint of energy from what just happened there.
Maybe you wake up one morning and feel a visceral shift in energy in the air, or within your body.
You are picking up on subtle frequencies that others aren't tuned in to. And then consider that everything carries a frequency: Thoughts, emotions, people, and spaces.
Being highly sensitive can impact all your senses, from your physical body to your energetic body.
That's why you might experience an "energy hangover" after a busy weekend. It's why your body can become overwhelmed in loud, crowded, or chaotic spaces.
You are wired to sense more deeply than most people.
You are taking everything in on a deeper level. So it makes sense that you might have different needs than most people.
Learn to recognize what your system is and isn’t designed to handle, even if others seem fine with it.
What is leaving you feeling drained, burned out, overwhelmed, or in some cases, intensely unwell?
What boundaries do you have around your time, your space, your energy, and your nervous system. These boundaries are so important to thriving as a highly sensitive soul.
This doesn't mean we never do hard things, or don't ever push ourselves, it means learning to care for our needs and learning to honor our capacity.
Try an energy audit of your week ahead.
What activities do you have lined up that you know are draining for you? How can you create some time and space around those activities to nourish yourself and replenish your energy?
Remember: Your heightened sensitivity and your psychic abilities go hand in hand. The more we honor and trust ourselves, and the more fully grounded we are in our bodies, the easier it becomes to tune into our intuitive and psychic abilities.
Check out the newest podcast episode on exactly that.
With so much love,
Danica
