Pleading With Spirit

Do you ever find yourself having sporadic (slightly desperate) conversations with your angels and Spirit team?

Like, when you're running around brushing your teeth, finding your kids sock under the couch, and filling the dog's food bowl, all while pleading with Spirit to please, please let this meeting go smooth?

Or you're late, driving to work, muttering Please don't let there be traffic!

There is nothing wrong with keeping that dialogue open (however intermittent), though I sometimes wonder: Were we all taught to pray like this? In the bursts of pleading in desperation.

For most of my life, that’s how I prayed. Only in urgency, only when I needed something specific, or I was desperate for a sign.

Until Something Shifted

When my oldest was just one year old, I miscarried my second pregnancy. I was so angry. Angry at my body, angry at the universe, angry at the happy pregnant ladies around me.

Each morning I would take my daughter and Marzipan (our dog) for a walk and have a conversation with my angels and spirit team.

Where we lived in Hong Kong there were endless clovers lining the road. And each day I would pray for a sign, begging Spirit to send me a four-leaf clover to show I was ready to be pregnant again. And then I’d scour the roadside with crazed energy, desperately searching for that one clover that would mean I was ready.

This went on for months.

And in a sea of thousands of clovers, I never found the sign I was hoping for.

The more I didn't receive it, the more frustrated I was becoming with spirit.

Keep in mind, my body was still healing, I was still grieving, but in my usual fashion I had pushed myself to just get over it and move on.

Until one morning something shifted in me.

I realized I had been pleading with Spirit to help me move past something I hadn't even really processed. My body and mind had been asking for time and space to heal, but I was barking orders at spirit like a line order chef: "Spirit! A four leaf clover please!! And make it quick!"

The energy I was bringing to the table was frantic and forceful, not open and trusting at all.

That morning, on my walk, I turned inward. Into my heart center. It felt so expansive, warm, and safe there. From that space I could finally check in with myself and feel, really FEEL, into what I wanted and needed. By then, I had healed physically. My hormones were back in some semblance of balance, I felt strong again, and I was ready for this next chapter.

From this grounded place I changed the way I spoke to my Spirit team. Instead of asking to be told I was ready, I said with conviction: "I am ready and open to receiving your guidance and support."

That morning.. THAT MORNING! I found my four-leaf clover.

Here’s what I’ve learned about prayer and talking to Spirit

So often, our prayers come from fear, lack, or complete disconnection from our true needs and desires.

But when we drop into our heart space, connect with ourselves, and have an open and honest conversation with our team (daily), that’s when the magic happens.

AND we often ask and ask, but forget to open ourselves to receive the answers, guidance, and signs we’ve been seeking.

One simple way to make this shift is to move from demanding → to intention setting.

This might look like:

  • Demand: "Please don't let me fail this project"
  • Intention: "I am open to receiving guidance and clarity on this project"

I mean, can't you just feel the shift in your breath when reading those two? Demanding creates constriction and tension in our bodies. When we set intentions, we remain more open and trusting, aligning to the support and guidance we are looking for.

Try it and let me know how it goes!

Prayer and intention are about connection and relationship. It’s about having honest, daily conversations with ourselves AND our spirit team, building trust in both and opening ourselves up to receive support in ways we may not expect.

If we only tune in when everything is falling apart, we stay in that one-sided and constricted energy. But when we create small, daily moments of connection, listening inward, tending to our bodies, noticing the guidance that’s always there, everything shifts.

I so appreciate you all.

With love,

Danica

🪽Angel Card Pull: Signs & Reminders 🪽

Your angels, spirit team, and even loved ones in spirit are sending you signs to let you know of their presence and guidance in your life, reminding you that you never walk alone. When signs show up it is because you are moving in alignment, and it's a signal of your connection. Ask for signs, stay open to receiving them, and trust that they are real and meant for you. Bonus tip: when you receive a sign, follow up with a thank you to spirit :)

New On The Podcast!

Have you ever found yourself waiting for permission to act on your dreams?

As highly sensitive women, many of us learned early on to look outside ourselves for many things, either to keep the peace, avoid rejection, or even earn love. Over time, those patterns can show up as perfectionism, people-pleasing, and a constant inner voice asking: Am I even allowed to do this?

In this episode, I’m talking about the permission we long for and how it has to come from within.

I get into why we tend to seek permission as HSP (Highly Sensitive People), my own story of seeking out permission, the patterns that can keep us stuck, what to do if pressing go on your dreams feels scary, why our path seems to reroute us sometimes, and one of my favorite practices to help you reconnect with your desires and take the first steps toward them.

If you have convinced yourself that your dream is not possible for you, tune in

Warmly, Danica

Letters to the Sensitive Soul

Hi! I'm Danica, a psychic medium, intuitive mentor, and author. My work is devoted to creating supportive spaces for highly sensitive folks to reconnect with themselves, their bodies, and their inner wisdom. I weave together intuitive guidance, and somatic practices to help ease perfectionism, soften self-criticism, and strengthen self-trust, because I believe spirituality isn’t about transcending ourselves, but deepening into who we are.
