The Message I Found in My Childhood Attic

My parents asked me to help them clean out their attic recently. And while I am not one to hold on to very much at all, my mom holds onto everything: report cards from First Grade, shoes that no longer fit, stained and tattered stuffies, you name it.

So, I'd really been dreading this task.

But as I was sorting through a dusty box labeled "Danica's Stuff," I came upon a collection of construction paper books and stories I had written as a child.

They were, to my absolute delight, adorned with such titles as:

  1. The Alien Door
  2. The Book of the Ghost
  3. The Witch

And the one that gave me goosebumps was titled Write it All Down - In which I experience unexplained paranormal activity until a being appears before me and instructs me to "Write it all down."

Goosebumps, because Spirit showed up five years ago to repeat this same message.

As I sat in the attic flipping through these classics, I was overcome with this feeling that I had come full circle. That at some point, I had fallen asleep and forgotten the things I knew as a child - the love I had for all things magical, even the love I had for writing.

And I have spent the last fifteen years in what feels like a messy remembering, finding my way back to that place within me, to the belief in our connection and, maybe most importantly, to childlike joy.

But it made me ask: why do we forget?

At what point do we trade our wonder and awe and for productivity and achievement?

When do we stop wearing the things that light us up, just to fit in with others' expectations?

Why do we fall asleep, only to have to wake up and remember?

I don't have the answers, but perhaps remembering is part of our journey here - something our souls must sort through in order to understand deeper lessons.

I have spent most of this year deeply reconnecting with these childlike pieces of me: my love for frilly dresses, decorating my spaces with trinkets that feel like magic, and writing poetry.

And while it's been fun overall, and healing in its own way, it has also brought a deeper presence into my daily life that I could not have predicted.

Finding childlike joy might feel frivolous when our world is hurting, but your joy does not have to be earned or sacrificed. It's allowed to be part of your journey. In fact, I think we could all use more ease and laughter and play in our lives. We need to remember that life is for living and breathing in. For experiencing all the parts, not just the struggles.

My question for you this month is: What filled you with joy before the world taught you who you should be?

Remember what used to light you up and follow it.

With love,

Danica

🪽Angel Card Pull: Vulnerability & Freedom 🪽

The angels are reminding you today that even though you have endured some difficult experiences, being true to yourself is your strength. They are encouraging you to connect to the parts of you that make you unique, the pieces of you that you love and admire and to share them with the world. When you do this, you allow the world to value those parts of you as well. Call in the angels to help you move toward vulnerability, freedom, and joy this week.

If you love reading the newsletter, it would mean so much if you shared it with friends or on your socials.

I create space for empaths and sensitive souls remembering who they are, navigating awakening, and reconnecting to their gifts. If you're craving that support, let's connect! Reply to this email with any thoughts or questions, or head over to browse my website.

On The Podcast!

Yes, I definitely say “talk to the rocks” in this episode…

Sometimes, simply shifting the way we move through our day can help remind us of the magic.

What if we could invite more magic into our lives simply by cultivating more intention and pause throughout our day and within our physical spaces - reclaiming the pace at which we move and the energy we invite into our daily lives.

In this episode I offer some simple practices to turn your living space into a retreat, welcome in softness, and move with more intention so you can invite more magical moments of ease, connection, and joy throughout your day.

Warmly, Danica

Letters to the Sensitive Soul

Hi! I'm Danica, a psychic medium, intuitive mentor, and author. My work is devoted to creating supportive spaces for highly sensitive folks to reconnect with themselves, their bodies, and their inner wisdom. I weave together intuitive guidance, and somatic practices to help ease perfectionism, soften self-criticism, and strengthen self-trust, because I believe spirituality isn’t about transcending ourselves, but deepening into who we are.
